Our Story
East coast born, but 3rd coast raised.” This Austin, Texas native has an extreme passion and love for cooking. This love affair started at a very young age, long before the food network and cooking channel ever existed, there was Julia Child and Emeril Lagasse. Chef Robb was also heavily inspired by his mother "Ruthie", father, and Aunt Bev, who are amazing cooks as well. He would help with BBQs, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. This sparked a fascination with cooking that drove him to learn more about his craft and excel at culinary arts
After graduating from Johnston High School in Austin, TX, he joined the United States Navy as an E-1 Mess Specialist, which was later changed to Culinary Specialist and would serve his country for the next 20 years and reach the rank of E-6 Culinary Specialist First Class. While serving, he went on several deployments and was a part of many combat operations after 9/11. During his naval career, he was able to see many countries and experience many different cultures, especially in regard to food. His travels helped nurture and hone his culinary growth and as a visual learner, Chef Robb sharpened his culinary skills and continued to perfect his craft. While serving his final Naval tour in San Diego CA, he had the opportunity to work at Chefs SD and assumed the role of Head Chef. There, Chef Robb was able to learn more about the restaurant industry, worked hand in hand with many chefs who had many different skill sets, and was able to prepare top-notch cuisines for numerous celebrities i.e. Akon, John B, Ginuwine, Bryson Tiller, Bobby Valentino, Mya, YG just to name a few.
After serving 20 years and 10 months, Chef Robb hung up his boots and retired from the United States Navy. In May 2022, he returned back to his roots and started his dream business “Chef Blaq Robb Private Dining and Catering”, catering weddings, corporate events, holiday parties, baby showers, Quinceanera's, bachelor/bachelorette parties and private dinners, building great rapport with all his clients. Now, he wants to try a new venture with Ruthie's his first food trailer, striving to provide great service and amazing food to his City.
